John S. Walczyk M.D., F.A.A.D.

Dr. John S. Walczyk has been providing the highest quality dermatologic care since 1994. A graduate of Columbia University, he is board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology. He is an associate at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he teaches dermatology residents.

Dr. John S. Walczyk was raised in Manhasset, New York. He lives on Long Island with his wife and three children. He is a family orientated practitioner and often talks to his patients about common ground experiences.

Dr. Walczyk graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1985 from the University of Vermont where he received Suma Cum Laude honors. After taking a year off to perform research, he went to medical school at The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York City. He received his medical license in the State of New York in 1993.

Upon graduating from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, Dr. Walczyk spent his internship year in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. He followed this internship with his residency in Dermatology at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, New York. His fourth year of residency was spent as Chief Resident of Dermatology in the St. Luke’s Division at Columbia-Presbyterian.

Dr. Walczyk became a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners in October 1990. He also was Board Certified by the American Academy of Dermatology in 1994. Today, he is still a part of the American Academy of Dermatology and has completed his re-certification.

Dr. Walczyk also belongs to many professional organizations and Associations. He is a member of The Nassau County Medical Society, The Society of Practioners at Columbia Presbyterian, The State of New York Medical Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology.

From July 1994 through 1996, Dr. Walczyk was an Instructor in Clinical Dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. For the last ten years, he has been an Associate in Clinical Dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where he actively teaches dermatology residents in training.

Throughout his career, Dr. Walczyk has been a member of several hospitals. Since 1993, he is an Associate Dermatologist at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Since 1999, he has been an Attending Dermatologist at North Shore University Hospital Plainview in Plainview, New York. From 1994 through 2005, Dr. Walczyk was a Clinical Assistant at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York.

He previously worked in a group practice in Garden City from 1994 until 2003. In September 2001, he began his own private practice in Manhasset; now Manhasset Dermatology.

Dr. Walczyk takes pride in approaching his patients as people, teaching them about their skin problems, as well as treating them. This has led to his success as a leading clinician in the field. To his patients he is happy to be known simply as their family dermatologist.
